Health and Happiness

LOVE: The one thing we take with us when we leave. The one thing left behind when we go.

Love defines us, nourishes us, sustains us, makes our lives worthwhile. One aspect often overlooked is the love of our bodies. They are our vehicles in this world that enable us to fulfill our daily tasks and our deepest desires.

When did you last thank your heart, your lungs, your legs, your eyes?

Our western culture tends to make us feel we are not good enough. Our bodies should be different than they are. How about the concept that you have the body you were meant to have? Would that acceptance and gratitude bring you peace and contentment? Byron Katie says if we fight the truth, we always lose. How can we know we have the best body for our earthly voyage? Because this is the body we have. Fact. Undeniable.

Your body works hard to support you in every way possible. Most of us are unaware as our digestive system digests, our heart pumps life-giving blood to all our cells, our lungs breathe in the oxygen we need to live. We are in our brains, occupied with all those thoughts, most of which are unoriginal and unnecessary. Even if you are in a wheelchair, or even an iron lung, your body is performing miracles.

Your body loves you and wants you to be happy. Any illness or accident that shows up is often your body (and your spirit) trying to get you to listen. Yes, communication works both ways. If we don’t pay attention to our body’s messages, they have to get louder and more dramatic until we wake up.

When we feel loved and connected and loving, our cells receive the chemical recipe for perfect health. If we give in to such harmful feelings as hatred, our cells and our immune system have to endure a TOXIC chemical cocktail. Our bodies still keep on working, as best they can under these adverse conditions.

So give yourself and your body a break. Send love to all your cells and organs, send love to those confused people who may have done terrible things, send love to all the aspects of Mother Nature that enable us to live on this beautiful planet. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
